The town of Princeton was packed with an estimated 3,000-5,000 protestors on Saturday, June 14 – just one of thousands of nationwide protests to mark “No Kings Day.”
“What an appropriate place to have a No Kings rally,” said CFPA Executive Director Rev. Robert Moore, noting the event took place directly under a massive statue commemorating the 1777 Battle of Princeton. “George Washington fought to prevent America from being ruled by kings.”
Donald Trump orchestrated tanks on the streets and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday – hijacking Flag Day and the US Army’s birthday. This event – and events all across the country – reminded everyone what that flag really stands for: the US Army was formed to stand up to a king.
Trump thinks his North Korea-style spectacle projects strength – but in America, strength and power come from the people. In Princeton, we joined activists across the country to reject corrupt, authoritarian politics and make action everywhere else the story of America that day.
The flag doesn’t belong to Donald Trump. It belongs to us.
