CFPA co-sponsored a Rally on May 16, with Indivisible Cranbury, Indivisible Trenton Makes, and NJ 50501 as part of the National Day for Voting Rights: All Roads Lead to the South protest across the nation, with the main rally in Montgomery, AL. The Rally drew 50-60 participants at the War Memorial across from the NJ State House in Trenton.

According to CFPA Executive Director Rev. Robert Moore, “Two major Court Rulings in the last few weeks--by the Supreme Courts of the US and Virginia--have seen major defeats gutting the historic Voting Rights Act of 1965. These rights were achieved by nonviolent activists, led by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King and others, who struggled over many years to gain them. This means up to one third of the Congressional Black Caucus in the US House could be ousted in this year's elections!”

Emceed by Indivisible Cranbury's Laura Zurfluh, the Rally featured several speakers in addition to Rev. Moore:  Jessica DeFalco, NJ 50501;  Austin Edwards, immediate past chair of the Trenton NAACP;  Larry Hamm, Chairman and co-founder of the People's Organization for Progress;  Calandria Ortiz Resende, League of Women Voters of NJ, and Verlina Reynolds-Jackson, NJ State Assemblywoman.
